Ambikapur to Connect with Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Varanasi

Raipur. Direct flight services from Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur to Singapore and Dubai are set to commence soon, officials revealed on Wednesday.

The announcement came after Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinzarapu Ram Mohan Naidu at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in New Delhi. During the meeting, they discussed enhancing air connectivity in the state and the development of regional airports.

The Union Minister expressed agreement on launching international flight services from Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport in the near future. Additionally, the process to develop the airport into a cargo hub will also begin soon. Plans to start flights from Raipur to Patna and Ranchi were also approved during the discussion.

Chief Minister Sai emphasized the need to grant international airport status to Swami Vivekananda Airport, citing the significant potential for international flight services in Chhattisgarh. He also proposed developing the Raipur airport as a centralized cargo hub, highlighting the absence of any major cargo facility in the state.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister requested new flight services to connect Ambikapur Airport with key cities such as Raipur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya, aiming to improve regional connectivity and promote development in the state.
