Melbourne. An Indian student pursuing a master's degree at the University of Tasmania in Australia has slipped into a coma after an alleged attack earlier this month. The 20-year-old student was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital shortly after the attack, which happened at around 4:20am on November 5 in Tasmania, Sydney-based broadcaster SBS reported. His right lung reportedly collapsed and he had to undergo brain surgery, a procedure that lasted several hours. Immediately after the incident, police took the attacker, 25-year-old Benjamin Dodge Collings, into custody and charged him with assault. This crime carries a maximum prison sentence of 21 years. Collings was granted bail by a magistrate and is due to appear in court again on December 4.
