Zomato’s ‘Chief of Staff’ Position Vacant

  • Applicants Must Pay ₹20 Lakhs
  • No Salary in the First Year, Only Learning Opportunities

New Delhi. Deepinder Goyal, MD & CEO of online food delivery platform Zomato, has announced an opening for the position of ‘Chief of Staff.’ However, he has specified that potential candidates must contribute ₹20 lakhs during the first year.

Goyal stated on Wednesday that this amount would be donated to the non-profit organization Feeding India. In return, Zomato would contribute ₹50 lakhs to a charity of the candidate’s choice.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Goyal wrote, “We are looking for a Chief of Staff whose job description is as follows: someone who can do everything required to shape the future of Zomato (including Blinkit, Hyperpure, Feeding India, and others).” He claimed this role offers a learning experience “10 times more valuable than a two-year degree from a top management school.”

However, he clarified, “This is not a conventional role with the usual perks associated with such jobs.”

On the subject of salary, Goyal said, “There will be no salary for the first year. Instead, you’ll need to pay ₹20 lakhs for this opportunity. This ‘fee’ will be 100% donated to Feeding India.”

Goyal further explained, “We want to make it clear that we are not trying to save money here. We will contribute ₹50 lakhs (equivalent to the Chief of Staff’s salary) to a charity of your choice.”

He added that from the second year onward, “We will start paying you a standard salary (definitely above ₹50 lakhs), but we’ll discuss the exact amount at the start of the second year.”

Goyal advised applicants to apply for this role only if they value the learning opportunity it presents.
