New Delhi. In a significant move within the Indian aviation landscape, Air India announced on Tuesday that it has successfully finalized the integration of full-service carrier Vistara into its operations.

The newly merged airline will provide over 5,600 weekly flights to more than 90 destinations. Following this merger, Singapore Airlines will elevate its ownership stake in the enlarged Air India to 25.1 percent. According to a press release, 'The Air India Group has accomplished the operational unification and legal consolidation of Air India and Vistara, forming a more substantial full-service airline.

Previously, on October 1, 2024, the group’s budget airline Air India Express was integrated with AIX Connect (formerly known as Air Asia India). Vistara was a collaborative enterprise between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines.

Campbell Wilson, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air India, remarked that the merger marks the completion of the integration and restructuring phase of the Air India Group's transformation journey following its privatization.

He commented, 'In the past two years, the teams from all four airline entities have collaborated closely with other stakeholders.' The Tata Group took over the financially struggling Air India from the government in January 2022.
