Melbourne. The Global Sourcing Expo is
being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from November
19 to 21, 2024, showcasing handicrafts from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and
other Indian states at the Indian Pavilion.
This event is a significant
opportunity to strengthen India-Australia bilateral trade, displaying an
extensive range of Indian handicrafts, apparel, and sustainable lifestyle
products. Dr. Sushil Kumar, India’s Consul General in Melbourne,
inaugurated the India Pavilion organized by the Export Promotion
Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).
Dr. Kumar praised EPCH’s efforts in
promoting Indian handicrafts globally and boosting exports. EPCH Chairman Dilip
Baid highlighted the expo as a premier trade event in Australia, bringing
together international manufacturers, wholesalers, and designers with major
retail chains, fashion labels, and institutional buyers from Australia, New
Zealand, and beyond.
Baid also mentioned that India’s
participation aligns with the recently signed India-Australia Economic
Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), which is expected to further
enhance trade relations. EPCH Executive Director R.K. Verma shared
