In a striking testament to the power of determination and passion, seasoned actor Krishna Kotian steps into the shoes of the iconic Vappala Pangunni Menon, popularly known as VP Menon, in the highly anticipated Bollywood biopic "Sam Bahadur". Kotian, a late bloomer in the world of acting, commenced his journey at the age of 54, defying conventional norms and redefining the boundaries of age in the industry. His presence in acclaimed OTT series and films has been marked by an unyielding dedication to his craft, culminating in his portrayal of VP Menon – a role that marks a significant milestone in his career. The actor is very excited to see himself on the silver screen taking on the challenging role of VP Menon, a brilliant strategist who played a pivotal role in India's victory in the 1962 war with China. "VP Menon was a complex and fascinating figure," said Kotian. "He was a brilliant strategist and a shrewd negotiator. He was also a man of great integrity and patriotism. I am honoured to have the opportunity to play him in this film." Sam Bahadur is a biopic about Sam Manekshaw, one of India's most decorated military commanders. The film chronicles Manekshaw's life from his early days in the Indian Army to his rise to the pinnacle of military leadership. “The opportunity to work with director Meghana Gulzar was a long-held aspiration, she was on the top-most spots in my bucket list. Vicky Kaushal is a collector’s dream come true as well. Both of them were very humble; despite their towering presence. There is so much to learn from both of them. I completely transformed my look for the film. I also researched Menon through history, and drew inspiration from the limited photographs and textual resources available; since there was no digital or social media then. It was an immersive journey. Menon's collaboration with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in integrating 565 princely states into the Union of India remains an indelible testament to his monumental contribution to our nation's history” Kotian shared, shedding light on the meticulous workshops undertaken to delve into the intricacies of the character.
