Mumbai. Multiple National Awards Winning Director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, shared profound insights into his remarkable journey and the unforgettable camaraderie with the actor Pankaj Tripathi. Kadak Singh which has been released on a leading OTT platform is generating rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.
Reflecting on their first encounter, Chowdhury recalls, "Pankaj ji cooks very well and he is a complete foodie. We bonded over food. Our initial meeting transcended beyond mere discussions of the film. I came to know more about him; his journey through the tinsel town, and his cinematic orientation and he similarly asked me about my roots. He had cooked a vegetarian Chinese fare and we started with Momos. I had gone to his home in Madh Island and we had these momos and coffee in the evening time overlooking the sea visible from his home. He told me ‘Tony da, thoda khate hain, pite hain, jab time milega tab film bana lenge, no problem’. While we stood in the verandah having coffee, the sun was setting and we were watching how the birds were flying and going back to their nests. And one particular bird lost his way, he was struggling and could eventually then manage to go back to the flock. The entire meeting was very metaphorical, very spiritual and philosophical.”
The director delved into the enriching experience of working with Tripathi, praising his exceptional talent and ability to decipher the intricacies within the script. "He's a great actor. He understands the line, I mean, the notes between the lines. And he's terrific," Chowdhury expressed. "He's so fabulous, he's so organic and he plays everything so correctly. It was genuinely a beautiful experience. We spoke, we ate together, we bonded together. It was like a cakewalk. Pankaj's dedication to the script was palpable, we had a great time working together. At the time of the last shot that we took in Calcutta, he asked me why are we finishing the film and let us shoot for a few more days.” The title, 'Kadak Singh,' encapsulates the essence of the film—a blend of flavour, depth, and resilience—a narrative promised to captivate audiences.
