Guwahati. The beginning of the academic year 2023-24 was good for the students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati. The companies that came to the campus to offer jobs gave 164 offers of employment on the very first day. Of these, 11 have received a salary package offer of Rs 1 crore per year. IIT, Guwahati said in a statement that all these offers were made by 59 companies on Friday, the first day of the 'placement' session.
According to the statement, 160 proposals were made by 46 companies during the last academic year. IIT Guwahati students have already received 214 ‘pre-placement’ offers during 2023-24. The institute has received 11 offers with packages of more than Rs 1 crore so far, compared to seven offers in 2022-2023. The statement said that those making appointments this year include Google, Microsoft, Bajaj, HPCL, Piramal, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.
Professor Lalit Mohan Pandey, head of the Center for Career Development, said, “We have overcome the global slowdown by maintaining good job offer data. “Through rigorous training, our students have understood the needs of companies and prepared themselves to meet the same effectively.” For the academic year 2023-24, 1491 students of various subjects have registered for jobs.
