I love marinating my thoughts : Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury

Mumbai. Director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, renowned for his impactful films such as "Pink" and "Antaheen," shares insights into his creative process and the deliberate pace behind his cinematic ventures. With his recent work in "Kadak Singh," the three-time National Awards-winning director sheds light on his approach to filmmaking and the significance of nurturing ideas before bringing them to life on screen. Roy Chowdhury emphasizes the profound role of writing in the filmmaking process, considering it the cornerstone from which a film blossoms. "Writing is not just about shooting; it initiates the entire filmmaking journey. I along with my writer/s take our time to let our thoughts simmer," he explains. "I don't rush. Unless a script captivates me completely, I don't commence. It's a slow process—a marination of thoughts that must infuse into my being, meld with my essence, and become an integral part of me before execution. The director's deliberate approach reflects in his filmography. While some create multiple films within a year, Roy Chowdhury invests almost two and a half years per film, cherishing the art of nurturing a script and embracing a story. "For me, storytelling is about belief and commitment. It's about embodying the essence of the story and screenplay, letting it resonate within me," he adds.

Drawing inspiration from life itself, Roy Chowdhury articulates, "As a storyteller, I must believe in my narratives and deliver on that conviction. Each tale I spin resonates with my life's tapestry and the world around me. Authenticity is non-negotiable—it must breathe reality. Every event depicted in my films is drawn from the canvas of my life and the ambiance surrounding me. It has to be real; it has to be genuine; falsehood has no place. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's way of creating films combines patience, genuine storytelling, and a deep connection, making movies an emotional and thought-stirring journey.
