Three programs organized on Diwali in America

Washington. Last week, three Diwali related programs were organized in America's Capitol Hill, in which a large number of American lawmakers participated. During this, the MPs appreciated the role played by Indian-Americans in the socio-economic development of the country. Indian-American MP Ro Khanna, in his address during the Diwali program organized at the US Capitol (US Parliament House Complex), said, "The basic principles of Diwali - the victory of good over evil, the importance of discharging one's duty - are applicable to all religions." Are important for the people.

This program is organized by BAPS (Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha), Hindu American Foundation, Asian American Hotel Owners Association, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, Federation of Jain Association in North America, American Jewish Committee, US Indian Community Foundation, US India Security Council and Indian Organized in collaboration with the Council on American Relations. The event was attended by a large number of US lawmakers including Cynthia Loomis, Scott Perry, Shri Thanedar, Deborah Ross and Anna Paulina Luna, along with over 300 members of the Indian-American community from across the US. “The Festival of Lights inspires us to lift up our communities with hope rather than despair and stand up for what is right,” Congressman Jim Costa said, echoing the spirit of the Nov. 15 celebration at the US Capitol.

‘Republican Hindu Coalition’ organized another Diwali related program the same evening in which members of the ‘Congressional Hindu Caucus’ participated. Republican Hindu Coalition Chairman and caucus policy advisor Shalabh 'Shali' Kumar hosted caucus co-chairs Elise Stefanik and Pete Sessions and 16 other members of the US Congress, according to a release.
