National Christmas tree in White House fell due to strong winds

Washington. Washington D.C. Strong winds toppled the National Christmas Tree at the White House. According to CNN report, the tree fell on a structure at around 4.40 pm on Tuesday evening. Later it was rectified. Let us tell you that the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is going to take place on Thursday. Throughout Tuesday, D.C. Winds in the area reached 30 mph. The highest gust of over 40 mph was recorded at Reagan National Airport. According to the National Park Service (NPS), a 40-foot Norway spruce tree was planted on the Ellipse earlier this month. The previous tree, planted Oct. 30, 2021, was removed Nov. 11 due to needle cast fungal disease, NPS said. Holiday celebrations are in full swing in America's capital. First lady Jill Biden unveiled the White House holiday decorations this week. The decorations unveiled Monday included 98 Christmas trees, 72 wreaths and 2.8 miles of ribbon. This year's theme includes much in line with Magic, Wonder and Joy.
