Cabin crew members should not use mouthwash containing alcohol.

New Delhi. Aviation regulator DGCA has issued new guidelines saying that pilots and crew members cannot use mouthwash, tooth gel or any substance that contains alcohol. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued revised norms requiring its aircrew and flight attendants not to use substances like mouthwash or tooth gel containing alcohol to pass medical tests.

DGCA said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the use of mouthwash or tooth gel with alcohol content can lead to positive results in breath analyzer test. This step has been taken with the intention of making aircraft operations more secure. DGCA said that it has streamlined the provisions of the existing rules based on suggestions received from the aviation industry. However, perfume was also included in its draft but it has not been included in the final list.

The regulator said in this directive issued on October 30, 'No member of the crew shall consume any medicine/formulation or use mouthwash/tooth gel or any such product which contains alcohol. Any crew member taking such medication will have to consult the company physician before taking off.' According to the DGCA, the use of breath analyzer equipment with fuel cell technology has been made mandatory and a process of monitoring and inspection of agencies has been initiated. Has been. To provide convenience to aviation companies, DGCA has expanded the scope of units undergoing SSA analyst testing. Each member of the crew and support staff will be required to undergo a breath test at the airport prior to flight duty.
