AI based system will be installed at Delhi Airport

New Delhi. Artificial Intelligence (AI) based analytics and camera-based solutions will be used to improve operations in view of the increasing passenger movement at Delhi Airport. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, Chief Executive Officer of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the company operating the country's largest airport, gave this information.

Jaipuriar said, ‘We are thinking of adopting more digital solutions for operations. These solutions can be based on Internet-of-Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence. We will use predictive analytics to improve airport operations.' Delhi airport operates around 1,500 flights daily. The movement of passengers here is also expected to increase to more than seven crores by the end of the current financial year. This airport operates flights from three terminals – T1, T2 and T3. DIAL is trying to improve its operational levels in view of the increasing traffic at the airport. In fact, last year during the winter season, passengers had to face a lot of inconvenience due to increased crowd at the airport. Jaipuriyar said the number of passenger entry gates at the airport had been increased within 15 days of last year's incident.

Apart from this, the Airport Operation Center (APOC) system used in Europe is also being implemented. With the help of this system, it can be estimated how many passengers can be present at the airport at a particular time. Based on this, necessary preparations can be made in advance.
